World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. This value is the total of all the leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.
Item level is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips of items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it will be capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its value. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory states that the level of an item is determined by an equation that determines the value of the stats of an item really are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is to use affixes. item upgrader are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can provide the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with the arrows that circle. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.
Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. Similar to the base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by five percent. These items can be purchased from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it fails.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..
The success of an can be affected by the luck of that item. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.
Note that item upgrade s are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
